Privacy Policy

The short version

All 61 calculators do their math on your device. The numbers you type, amounts, rates, ages, balances, results, are not sent to us, and our analytics never records them. One deliberate exception is in your hands: the Copy link button builds a URL that contains your inputs so you can share or bookmark a scenario, and that URL goes only where you choose to paste it. We use anonymous usage analytics to count visits and see which tools get used, and some comparison pages carry disclosed referral links. That's it. Questions? Contact us.

What we collect

1. Anonymous usage analytics, via Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4. We record page views and interaction events: which tool was opened, which input was touched (its field name only), theme changes, tool searches, clicks on outbound and affiliate links, and JavaScript errors. We never record the values you enter or the results you get. Share links put your inputs in the web address, so the address is stripped back to the page itself before anything is reported: analytics sees /tools/mortgage/, not the numbers after it. The address you arrived from is stripped the same way. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, none of this analytics is loaded at all: not Google's, not Microsoft's. The one thing that still runs is our host's page-speed measurement, described under 3 below, which records how fast the page loaded and nothing about what you typed.

2. Session analytics, via Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymised page interactions to show how a page is used. Clarity records the full web address of the page it runs on and cannot be configured to strip your inputs out of it, so it does not run on any calculator or embedded widget. It runs only on ordinary content pages: this one, the guides, the homepage. Microsoft is the processor, and Clarity traffic also reaches Microsoft's Bing infrastructure.

3. Hosting: server logs and page-speed measurement, our host (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and timestamps to serve and secure the site. It also adds a small script to each page that reports how quickly the page loaded (timings and paint metrics) together with the page address stripped of any inputs, and it does this before our own privacy controls run, so it is not switched off by the Global Privacy Control signal. It never sees the numbers you enter.

4. On-device storage, your theme choice and any scenarios you save (for example, Net Worth snapshots) are kept in your browser's local storage on your device only, and are never uploaded.

Cookies & similar technologies

Google Analytics sets cookies and identifiers to measure usage, and Microsoft Clarity sets its own on the content pages where it runs. You can prevent them with your browser's cookie controls, an ad/tracker blocker, the Global Privacy Control signal (which this site honours by loading no analytics at all, so no cookies are set), or the Google Analytics opt-out. Local storage (theme, saved scenarios) is not a cookie and stays on your device.

Affiliate links

Some comparison pages link to financial products through referral links (marked, with disclosure). If you click one, the partner may recognise that you arrived from this site and may set their own cookies under their privacy policy. We never pass along anything you typed into a calculator. Who we share data with

We don't sell your data. Limited technical data is processed by our service providers: Google (analytics), Microsoft (session analytics, content pages only), Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery), and, only when you click a referral link, the relevant affiliate network or institution. Each has its own privacy policy.

Your rights

This site is operated from Canada and follows PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25. You can ask what we hold about you, request corrections, or ask us to delete it, email fawad@ahmed.fyi. In practice we hold very little that identifies you, since the calculators themselves collect nothing.

Retention: analytics data is retained for about 14 months. Children: this site is not directed to children and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves; material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Effective September 2026.
